Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
I can no longer edit any of my theme templates, except for the home page, which opens by default. I am given an error "Something went wrong, Please try again in a few minutes."
This just started to happen today, around 11am PST. I was editing templates today without issue before that.
Has anyone been experiencing the same issues? Any advice on how to resolve it?

Hi, @LFGabel!
Thanks for reaching out in our Community forums and for sharing your concern.
We did have a few merchants report this issue and were able to have our developers look into it. It has now been resolved and we apologize for any inconvenience. I'd also like to share our Shopify Status Page where we report widespread platform issues. Although this Issue in particular affected a small percentage of stores, it is a great place to quickly check.
Thanks again for reporting the issue!

Do you think it could be network issues?
Could be. I've given it several minutes.
The strange thing is I can access my code just fine and see all my .liquid files. It must be an issue with the theme editor.
I'll give it a few hours then contact support.
It sounds like a problem with your website's backend or server. Without more information about your specific setup and the exact error message, it's difficult to provide an accurate diagnosis. However, some things you can try include:
If the problem persists, it may be helpful to provide more details about your website and the error message you are receiving
close all the tabs and reopen the theme customization 🙂
Closed my Shopify tabs, cleared all cookies and cache. Restarted Chrome. Problem is still there.
Tried this in a private browsing window. Same issue.
I tried it in Microsoft Edge, which I never use. Same issue.
This started last night for me (12ish hours ago). Haven't seen any similar topics on Shopify Community so wonder if this is a personal account thing or Shopify-wide 😞
Hopefully gets figured out soon
Found a quick workaround. Add a featured collection on the Home Page on your theme editor and click the product manually there. Then it'll take you to the product and you can edit the content there
Interesting. Good catch. However, templates that have zero pages/products using them are still inaccessible.
Same problem here. Haven't found a fix after clearing browser, new browsers, new device, even new theme. Wondering if it's from Shopify's end
I'm having the same issue. I'm in line for chat now. I'll update if I can find out what is going on!
She was able to duplicate the error on her end, so it's probably a Shopify Admin issue. She's looking into fixes now.
Thanks for the update
It's up on the status page now, so hopefully, they figure it out soon! 🙂
Thanks for the update, and enduring the queue.
Mine seems to be back up and running now!
This was the last update from chat:
" Just to loop back to your initial query as well, I have reached out to our technical support team regarding the issue with editing your theme, and they have confirmed that this is currently an ongoing issue that other Shopify merchants are experiencing as well.
At this time, they are still working on resolving this issue from their end, but once I receive their confirmation, I can definitely follow up with you via email to let you know once it's been resolved :)"
Mine appears to be running properly again too. 👍

FTFY: Although this Issue in particular affected a small percentage of stores and SO WILL NOT APPEAR IN INCIDENT REPORTS, it is a great place to quickly check before contacting support.
That clarification is important as that tiny text and asterisk* on shopifystatus really buries the lead on stuff like this when there's a timeline. Regardless of speed of resolution these things are still a service interruption with no automatic publicly documented evidence for specific stores to point at why productivity is lost on the platform.
No need to reply.
