Why does image cropping occur on Taste Theme sliders?

The top and bottom of a slider image keeps getting cropped on the Taste theme.

On the preview everything looks fine but on the live website there is a lot of cropping top and bottom. I've tried re-sizing the image several times but the same problem keeps arising.
