Why does my GIF lose quality after uploading?

When I upload my GIF it loses quality, can this be rectified? Please see the below screenshots of the GIF prior to uploading vs uploaded to the site.

Update: this is on the Sense Theme. I have since uploaded it to other themes and the quality is much better but I need to use Sense. Can anyone help?
