Hi guys

Here Horacio from Chile. I´ve been having some speed issues with my ecommerce www.castabrava.cl specifically with mobile. I compressed images and desktop is extremely fast right now (98 on google´s page speed), but mobile is still very slow (42 on google´s page speed). My actual theme is Debut.

I´d really appreciate if someone could help me with this!

Kind regards,

Horacio

This is an accepted solution.

Images should be compressed. An image adds a great deal of appeal to a website when it comes to visual appeal. Well-positioned images of products on an online store are necessary so that customers can see what they are buying. Generally, high-resolution images are larger files and can take a long time to load a page. The quality of an image cannot really be compromised on the other hand.

Utilize Shopify apps to the fullest.  Shopify store owners are familiar with the plethora of third-party apps they must use. Shopify's page speed is affected by many of these apps due to scripts that run on the web page. See what the apps have to offer. Which ones are being used? Is every one of them helping the business? Delete those that aren't. The app remains in the system even if it is uninstalled. Apps add their own code to the Shopify website code once they are installed. Apps, therefore, add their own code to the Shopify website code.

Implement Accelerated Mobile Pages. AMPs were created by Google to speed up mobile web performance. Shopify Store AMP converts sections of a store's pages and indexes these pages in Google to improve page load time, mobile page loading times, and ranking on mobile search results. Every Shopify page must load lightning-fast and be mobile-friendly. AMP allows users to access mobile websites faster since it is enabled by the server.

Take Professional Help into Consideration. Increasing Shopify site speed requires the expertise of Shopify developers. There are several issues to address, including:

  • Render-blocking JavaScript and CSS elimination: In websites heavy on JavaScript or CSS, a certain batch of JS and CSS can increase page load times as well as block page rendering. Before the rest of the HTML is loaded on the web page, the JS scripts and CSS have to be loaded. Therefore, users who have a slower internet connection have to wait longer for the page to load. In this sense, such scripts and stylesheets are known as render-blocking scripts and stylesheets. Page scripts must be loaded according to priority in order to fix this.
  • Managing HTML and Javascript: All websites load multiple CSS, HTML, and JavaScript files. Files in this category contain space, comments, block delimiters, and the like. Ideally, this should result in a faster rate of page loading. Condense the HTML code and any embedded JavaScript and CSS. Less data is transmitted and the page loads faster. The best way to accomplish this is with professional assistance.

Hope this will answer all of your queries.

Hi Horacio,

It’s great that desktop speed is fast! For mobile, try lazy loading images, remove unnecessary apps, and check mobile-specific optimizations in Google PageSpeed Insights. You might also consider a mobile-optimized theme or making small tweaks to the Debut theme. Focus on addressing any JavaScript or CSS issues flagged in the mobile report.
