Praat over alles wat met Shopify en e-commerce te maken heeft
Yesterday 30/01/2025 orders measured, but conversion rate 0 (of Shopify orders)
Is there something of a bug or error in Shopify?
Because we seen the Shopify orders (coming in from Shopify directly, not other channels) are not measured in the conversion rate. Normally this was always the case, but since yesterday we don't see this anymore.
Possible changes from last day:
- We divided the Markets (countries) from last week, but this doesn't seems the problem - as conversion was still being measured
- Yesterday we were in the ''Cookiebanner'' settings of Shopify (based on an earlier received mail), but we thought it was ugly and to big on screen (and we already have one), so we deleted it - maybe this ???
- Yesterday we gave our Theme Developer access to fix some error in in local site translations of the Header, but the only have acces to the Theme code (so we don't believe this could be it).
- And lastly, it could be an error/bug
Hope someone can help / provide support
also today 31/01/2025 we received several orders, but the conversion rate keeps on 0% - VERY ODD / STRANGE (we never seen this before in the past years)
We're a bit suprised that Shopify doesn't reply on this with support???
In the neanwhile we are checking what the problem could be:
- on tuesday 28/01/2025 the conversion rate was still being tracked
- on wednesday 29/01/2025 no orders and on thursday 30/01/2025 there were orders, but no conversion rate tracking anymore.. So the problem must be between period 29 and 30 january 2025.
We are checking (filtering) what have been causing this, and so for might come to the following:
1) A Third-party APP for connector on marketplace (wich has next to some reading acces, also writing acces to; orders, edititing orders, and writing acces to metaobject_definities. This is a App party which helps us to connect and retreive orders from a Seller Marketplace into Shopify. Only the 20% VAT was not showing in the orders. With this they worked to make it show, but we noticed the calculated was done incorrect, and asked them to correct.
2) In this period we checked the mail of Shopify about the movement of the Pixel of Google and Youtube. We followed the instructions and saw it was already moved/placed correct. THe old Script (of this Google Tag Manager) is still showing are the Preferences of the store, but as per Shopify notification/remark this only gets moved on 2 february, and latest 7 february.
--> we are not sure, but we don't think Google or Youtube could cause the conversion rate Shopify note being tracked anymore. Also since we didn't change anything there, and the event still need to come (in near future), we believe it is less likely the problem can comes from here.
3) Following on 2), we noticed in this Google & Youtbe App, that we didn't set the Cookie Banner correctly, and we got a Remark in the Google and Youtube App to set this up. We actually already had a Cookie Banner, but it was from the Store THeme and very simply. We tried to add the Shopify Cookie Banner but it was not looking nicely and eye appealing at the time, so we deleted it again.
--> we believe because this Cookie Banner is connected to Shopify and tracks site movement this also may have caused it. We never set the Shopify Cookie Banner before, and when we did for the first time and thereafter deleted it, it might disrupted things. Therefore now since yesterday 31/01//2025 we setted-up the official Shopify Cookie Banner again with slightly adjusted text and in our Brand Colors (so it will be more eye appealing).
If the problem was in 3 then today or tomorrow, we should see conversion rate again.
Otherwise if it was 2 (allthough) we didn't change things, it should coming week (when this Google Tag manager html script gets automaticlly migrated by Shopigy)
And in meanwhile check if 1 triggered something will updating/editing orders and how tax should be calculated for 3rd party platform, where the orders get imported into Shopify.
Would be great to get some response or feedback from a moderator or expert, if we are on the right track
It is SOLVED
Thought it was solved, as on saturday 1 february 2025 there was conversion tracking again, so therefore we thought the official Shopfiy cookie banner did the trick.
Only on sunday 2 february 2025 the conversion rate tracking stopped again... We think it maybe caused this time by Google Analytics Tag, and the migration between 2 february and 7 februay...
Quote:
After February 2, 2025, management of the Google Analytics tag will be moved to Customer Events and the app should be used instead. Verify that the pixel is configured and that the accounts linked to the integration and the app match.
Unquote:
We already have this Google & Youtube App set-up and connected correctly. Only since we don't do coding ourselves, we have not removed the HTML Google TAG yet (at section; Webshop --> Preferences), as per the message it will be moved automatically (latest 7 february).
Also come to think of it we have this HTML Google Tag code also in the Theme code in the Header Liquid. Guess we need to remove that the same as well.
Can anyone advise on this what is best to do? Remove manually the HTML Google Tags (since it's now going via the Google & Youtube App) OR wait for autmatic migration?
