Trying to upgrade account on various platforms and on different pages and cannot upgrade my account from a free trial.

In most cases, merchants are unable to select a plan or get a billing cycle started because of a problem with their payment method. Have you checked that your payment method is supported? If you haven't, you can review the following accepted payment methods for paying for a Shopify bill:
*The credit or debit card must have international capabilities and must be set up to accept recurring transactions.
If your payment method is accepted, it also pays to check with your credit or debit card provider if there's anything that's preventing the charge from going through.
