"Hello fellow members, I am new to the dropshipping world and I am testing myself by trying to create an online shop. I followed all the guides on YouTube and didn't miss anything. After setting everything up, I opened my online shop's original domain to see how everything looks. Starting from the fact that I have organized everything on the homepage using the editor, but when accessing the site through the domain, it shows a t-shirt picture with the example product title as the default, even though I changed the picture and added my own description in the editor. Another problem is when I click on the product link from the homepage, I get a 404 error(while i make store mode active 404error, while draft its working) although all the links work correctly in the editor. I'm almost pulling my hair out, please help, I've watched all YouTube videos, everyone just talks about how to redirect the link, but even when entering the product URL, it doesn't work..."

Hi,

This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

This is a classic "live site vs. editor" issue that many new Shopify users face. It sounds like there's a disconnect between what you're seeing in the editor and what's actually published on your live domain. Let's troubleshoot this step-by-step:

1. Theme Publishing and Customization:

  • Verify Theme Publication:
    • In your Shopify admin, go to "Online Store" > "Themes."
    • Make sure the theme you've customized is the "Current theme." If it's not, click "Actions" > "Publish."
    • Sometimes, changes are made to a theme that isn't the live, published one.
  • Save Changes Thoroughly:
    • When making changes in the editor, ensure you click "Save" multiple times. Sometimes, a single save isn't enough.
  • Clear Browser Cache:
    • Your browser might be displaying a cached version of your site. Clear your browser's cache and cookies, or try viewing the site in incognito/private mode.
  • Hard Refresh:
    • Try doing a hard refresh of the webpage. On most browsers, ctrl+shift+r or cmd+shift+r will do a hard refresh.

2. Product Visibility and Status:

  • Product Status:
    • In your Shopify admin, go to "Products."
    • Check the "Status" column for your products. They must be set to "Active" to be visible on your live site. "Draft" products will only show in the editor.
    • You have stated that when the product is in draft it works, but when active it does not. this is a very important clue.
  • Sales Channels:
    • Ensure your products are available on the "Online Store" sales channel. In the product details, look for the "Sales channels and apps" section.
  • Collection Visibility:
    • If you're using collections to display products on your homepage, ensure those collections are also set to "Active" and visible on the "Online Store" sales channel.

Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.
