Abandoned Checkout Emails Being Wrongly Sent

The last week or possibly two we have had an increasing number of customers complaining that they are getting abandoned checkout emails even though they have checked out their orders.  This is obviously confusing as then they are concerned their order somehow hasn't been placed and causing customer service headaches at a really busy time of year.

 

I wondered if this might be due to the customer using different emails but it does appear that there is an abandoned checkout and an order placed with the same customer details but shopify is still sending out the reminders after the order has been placed, even though normally placing an order means the abandoned checkout email is cancelled.

 

Is anyone else experiencing this?
