Accept Partial Payments After Delivery (Credit Customers)

A lot of our large customers pay in partial payment (based on credit terms) for their delivered orders. Right now we have to use our finance to manage the payments but would love it to be part of the Shopify Platform itself.

Q. How can we make it easy for customers who buy on credit to pay in installments after they've already received their orders?

What steps or system can we set up to handle this effectively, considering things like keeping track of payments, making sure customers know how much they owe, and dealing with situations where payments are late or missed?
