All things Shopify and commerce
I signed up for a free trial and purchased a domain name. In the midst of the free trial Shopify terminated my account. They said I violated their acceptable use policy. I have no idea what I would have done to violate it and their email didn't elaborate. All I was able to do was purchase the domain, poke around the admin and create a dummy product for homemade soap.
I filled out their dispute form and waited about 2 weeks. I never heard back.
I have since gone through their support chat on 3 different occasions. No one can tell me why my account was terminated. And at this point I don't care about my Shopify account. But I do want the domain name that I purchased. Because my account is locked out, I cannot transfer it.
In the 3 separate chats, support has told me that they have escalated this issue. I wait 2 days and I don't get a response so I start another chat. It feels like I've been scammed. This has got to be one of the most bizarre situations I've been in. I loathe the day I opened a Shopify account.
I'm not optimistic that I will ever see my domain again. It seriously feels like they stole it from me. All that to ask, is there any recourse? Is there any way to get a hold of Shopify to get a resolution on this?
