All things Shopify and commerce
Our store offers a few "Pick 4" discounted bundles and we hard coded in the 4 drop down menus for the customer to make their 4 selections. How can we have a barcode for each of these 4 selections individually? In other words, a customer visits our "Pick 4 Wax Melts" product page for example, they use the 4 drop down menus to make their 4 wax melt selections and it shows up in the cart as one "Pick 4 Wax Melts" product with their 4 selections underneath (Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Option 4) but the only barcode is for the one Pick 4 Wax Melts. We are trying to figure out a way to get a barcode for each of the 4 selections made for order accuracy when we go to ship. Since our employees use a scan and pack system, they are only scanning one barcode for these Pick 4 products instead of having to scan a barcode for each of the 4 selections the customer made and so these Pick 4 products have the most issues with customers receiving the wrong options which we have to reship. We are trying to figure out a way to have a barcode for their 4 selections as though they were purchasing them individually instead of through the Pick 4 as this would cut down on shipping mistakes big time. How can we have one Pick 4 product and the 4 options either get added to the cart as 4 individual products so we have barcodes for each item or it gets added to the cart as one Pick 4 product and we get a barcode for the customers 4 selections as well?
Hi @KMM316 ,
When a customer selects the 4 products, we can pass their barcodes as the line items.
Have you tried that out?
Let me know if you need any assistance.
Thank you
The issue is that currently the 4 selections a customer chooses are not considered line items, rather it's a single line item i.e. Pick 4 Wax Melts which is the main product, thus the barcode only gets passed for the one, original item and not for the 4 selections they made.
Hi @KMM316 ,
Can you provide me the preview URL of the store so that I can find out solution?
Thank you
Sure thing. You can see our Pick 4 Wax Melts at this link as an example: https://magiccandlecompany.com/products/pick-4-wax-melts
Also I meant to say we need an "SKU" not a barcode for each of the 4 selections made on these Pick 4s if that makes a difference?
Hi @KMM316 ,
Here is the approach that we can take:
If you can provide me the access, I can assist you on it.
Thank you
I'm not sure that makes sense as, to my understanding, you cannot pass product titles as a property and then also attach SKUs to those products. The product titles are being passed as properties currently. This is also why none of the apps we have looked into work this way either that we can find. The products need to be passed as actual products and not properties. Also, if we pass them as products, what happens if customers remove 1 product and/or add other products? Or if we are running a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale. This is the dilemma we are facing. Trying to have 1 "Pick 4" product be treated as 1 product although it actually contains 4 products and also allow these 4 products that the customer selects to have SKUs for each for our scan and pack shipping system and order accuracy purposes.
Hi @KMM316 ,
If you can provide me the store access, I can help you out.
Thank you
