Adding barcodes automatically to products

I've a client looking to move to Shopify, they have some products that don't have barcodes so would like to have them generate automatically.

Is this possible?

I've already looked at Retail Barcode Labels app, it only works via the app, there is no way to create the barcode within the product page when creating a new product, it needs to be done separately.

I need something that can do it automatically when adding the product.

What do you think, is shopify the right fit?

Hey David - not at the time of product creation. The only way to add barcodes through the app is after the products have been created.

However, your client could use the app to add barcodes to every product that doesn't already have one added, so they'd import everything, use the app once, and move on (until more products need barcodes, and the app is free). Would that work?

Hey David, I highly recommend, SKU Manager . It can generate unique barcodes & SKUs. It came out a month ago, but its constantly adding new features and it wants to add way more.
