Adding multiple images to the same variant

I have created 3 variants for a product. When I try to select multiple images to one of my variants the screen does not allow it to happen (Update Variant Image dialog). It only applies the selected to 1 image. Is this a bug?

As far as I know it's not a bug. Only one image can be added to a variant.

From a customer's perspective if 3 images came up when selecting a variant it might be confusing.

Add one image to the variant to best show the particular size/colour of the product to reassure the customer then you could, if you wanted to, add text to your images to show customers the other images of your variant...

Thank you for your response. However, I do not think that is a good strategy. Having too much information confuses customers. I will look at addons to close this gap. 

I would like to suggest this feature to Shopify so they could integrate this into their product. Having just 1 image per variant is too restrictive.
