Android 8 - no push notifications anymore

Does anyone else have problems with not getting the ka-tjiiiing notifications on the app after installing Android Oreo/8?

I've tried virtually every setting with ignoring battery saving, setting it prioritized, running in background etc - but I just don't get any notifiations - neither when testing from the admin nor from real orders.

I'm running a Huawei with EMUI 8. Huawei keeps telling me it's an app problem and Shopify doesn't seem to have a solution.

Same happens here, seems they(Shopify) are aware of the issue and will hopefully fix it in the next update!

Yes, I've written with them a couple of times and I _think_ they are aware of it - though it wasn't fixed with the last couple of releases.

Another quite tricky thing I noticed is that when I go into the app - turn on notifications for orders - then exit the app - and enter the app e.g. 1 hour later - the app has turned off notifications for orders automatically.

I've tried the notification test right after activating order notifications, but the test notifications didn't come through.

I got another tweak to do from Shopify.

So far it worked with test notifications so now I'll have to wait and see what happens when the next order comes in.

The guide to follow is:

  • Log out of the app by going to Store > Settings > Log Out.
  • On your device, go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > App Info > Tap on the Shopify App > Tap Storage > Tap Clear Cache AND Tap Clear Data.
  • Now uninstall the app.
  • Restart your device.
  • Once back up and running, go to the Play Store and re-install the app.
  • Log in to the app and you should have notifications coming in once again.

EDIT: This works with new orders too - yay!

This is crap it's still not working for me is the a fix for this yet? There is so much on shopify that isn't working and not getting fixed!!!!!

Hi, i was having the same issue. There is someting that pops up in your notifications settings on your phone (it's gone once you accept it so I don't remember what it says exactly) but it's basically is asking if it can download some sounds. You must allow this. Then in addition go to advancd and let it install unknown apps. This worked for me. Good Luck!

Hi, i was having the same issue. Yes!!! Thanks Tom! This has saved me!! I'm launching soon and when testing my cart I was having the same issues, and your troubleshooting process did the trick!!

But if I click Clear Data, is it going to delete all my settings  on my shopify app( like store setup, navigation settinga etc.)
