Hello.
I would need some help in setting up our stores on Shopify. We have a Plus license and have already created a B2C Shop for Canada and a B2C Shop for Germany.
Now we want to add our B2B shop for Germany, but for European customers. Later on we want to add a B2B Shop only for German customers. Therefore, I want to have the best setup right at the beginning to avoid having problems in the future. Will this be done with markets or what is the best setup? The shops should be independant, having different customers, prices and also some items are different, but everything should be under one hood so that the admin can administer everything easily. I would appreciate if someone could give me a hand here. I will provide further information.
Update: I have now read about the new markets feature (enhanced) and I think this is what we need. Correct? What are the drawbacks?
Thanks! Marc
Hi Mike,
thanks for your answer. I explain our current setup, maybe you then tell me if and how to set it up. Our mother company in Canada has a Plus license. They have one canadian shop, so 9 shops left. We in Germany have another shop. Since we have some other subsidiaries, we want to keep the rest 8 shops of this license for them. So, we in Germany want to consume only 1 shop. As you said, it would be a good idea to have the B2B as the "main" shop and the B2C as the market. However, right now we have the B2C set up as the main market, since we only have 1 shop so far. Would it be possible to "move" this B2C to a market or submarket and create the B2B as the main shop? Is this a lot of work?
For the catalog etc, this won`t be a big problem, we will use a connector from our ERP to Shopify and we can select the items to display through this connector. Same for the prices.
Thanks, Marc
Hi Mike,
thanks for your answer. Yes, I would need some help for the next steps. First of all, regarding the flexibiliy of 10 shops for the Plus license: we have several subsidiaries in different countries that will consume the 10 shops. So, we in Germany would prefer having only 1 of these 10 shops, but using markets for the B2B and B2C shops. I think that´s possible and a feasable way. What kind of work would be involved when creating a new market for B2B, setting this as primary and moving the B2C shop as secondary market? Does this change the currency and other settings? If yes, which settings and how much work does this involve? We cannot afford to have the B2C shop being offline or not working. Only when I know what to change/adapt to the B2C shop, then I can create a primary market for B2B.
Right now the primary market (B2C) has default Euro and English and German as languages. This should be the same also when moving to the submarket. For the primary market (B2B) there should be English and USD as default.
Thanks, Marc
Hi Mike,
great, thanks for the answer! I will come back to you if I should need some help in setting this up. We will first discuss this situation internally and then create the market(s). Thanks!
