All things Shopify and commerce
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the best way to offer Local Delivery only for certain products in my store — not all of them. Some of my products are bulky and I don't want them to be available for Local Delivery.
Is there a way to control this, maybe using product tags? For example, if I tag a product with "local-delivery", can Shopify hide the Local Delivery option at checkout for products that don't have this tag?
Or is there another recommended method to handle this kind of setup?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

Hi @arkiou
Unfortunately, Shopify doesn’t natively support restricting Local Delivery based on product tags — it applies delivery methods at the order level, not per product.
Few workaround options:
Option 1: Use a Third-Party App
Apps like Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery let you offer local delivery only for specific products or tags. It gives you full control over which delivery methods are shown based on product rules.
Option 2: Split Products by Location
You can also:
Tag products with something like local-delivery.
Create shipping profiles in Shopify (Settings > Shipping and Delivery) to manage delivery zones. But note: this still won't restrict Local Delivery at checkout unless all products in the cart match that profile.
Shopify Limitation:
If a customer adds both eligible and non-eligible products to their cart, Shopify will still show Local Delivery if it's enabled for the delivery profile. That’s why an app is usually the cleanest solution.

Hey @arkiou ,
Great question! Controlling Local Delivery availability by product isn't natively supported by Shopify at a granular level (like by tag), but there are workarounds and app-based solutions that can help. For example, using product tags like "local-delivery" is a smart idea, but Shopify’s built-in checkout doesn’t let you conditionally show or hide shipping methods based on product tags alone. That’s where I’d love to introduce you to our app — Dash Drop Delivery
