Best way to sell/distribute large amounts of products or large zip file?

Hello,

We typically sell our products as digital zip files that are between 1GB & 4GB in size. We want to run a special promotion where we sell our entire collection in one bundle, and I am trying to research the best way to do this. My questions are:

Is there a way to create a bundle page that puts all of our existing products in the cart and uses a discount to list them for the expected price? IE: Can I just use my existing product collections to do this? or...

Do I create a special product page with the one zip file of all products, which will likely be 500-700gb in size? Is this well beyond Shopify's data limits?

Any other tips on how this is possible would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi @KMLibrary 👋 there is no "best" for such a specific use case, shopify was not built as a digital distribution system so everything will be workarounds.

A third party app/service to handle the digital distribution part is needed at minimum not even accounting for the organizational management or merchandising.

Or a digital distribution platform that lets you embed shopify buy-buttons, or has an api to support building a custom experience.

Even though shopify has some large limits don't build such a business around them:

For the bundle part if able to keep the systems separate in this business-model see pretty much any bundling app in the app store, or search discussions  in the app forum

Hi KMLibrary,

Yes, you can do it. The solution is simple.

  1. Open up a Google Drive folder and create a name for the folder.
  2. Upload your .zip files to that folder and make sure the folder is "shareable".
  3. Here's the tough part. After payment is received and confirmed, you'll need to create a URL Redirect/hyperlink to the Google Drive folder. That hyperlink allows the customer to download the item.

To prevent unauthorized users or the public from accessing your .zip files --- be sure to only grant access to confirmed email addresses of paid customers.

If you run into a snag, just let me know. I've done this a million times.

Good luck,
