Hi, @DiamondAlways! Congratulations on your new store, and welcome to Shopify!

After you purchase a domain from a third-party domain provider, you need to connect your domain to your Shopify store. Connecting your domain points your URL to your Shopify store so that customers can enter that URL into their web browser to visit your online store. The first step in this process is to edit this domains DNS settings to point to your Shopify store:

  1. On your domain provider’s website, log in to your account.

  2. Find the DNS settings or domain management area.

  3. Change the following records:

    1. Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
    2. If necessary, change the Host name to the @ symbol.
    3. Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
    4. Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.
    5. Save your changes.

After this, you can then connect this domain to your via your store's admin:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.

  2. Click Connect existing domain.

  3. Enter your domain, and then click Next.

  4. To confirm that your domain is connected to your Shopify store, click Verify connection.

It might take up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified. After it's verified, your domain is listed in the THIRD-PARTY DOMAINS section of the Domains page with the status Connected. A video of all the steps outlined here can be found here

How is store set up going for you at the moment? Is there anything you would like to improve or change that I could help?

Hi @DiamondAlways,

I think this article could be helpful for your – https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/domains/add-a-domain/connecting-domains/contact-domain-provider

You can read in there about connecting a domain from the third-party provider + there's a link to the set up if you have bought your domain from domain.com.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I'm close to done, but there's no CNAME record for me to change. Do I create one? And if so do I use the same address and add the shops.myshopify.com?

That is unusual - can you show me the options you do have? Can you screenshot me what the DNS settings look like for you within the domain hosts dashboard please?

Hi, I actually figured it out. I just added a CNAME record and put the other info on it. Thank you for your help!

That's great to hear.

How is store set up going besides the domain? Is there anything you would like some help or advice on? I'd love to hear all about your store - what will you be selling? What are your plans and goals?
