Brick and Mortar Flea Market Needs App

I have a brick and mortar flea market, open 7 days a week. I carry my own wholesale products, like from Faire, and second hand merchandise that I find at garage sales, estate sales, etc. I also rent out booth spaces to vendors that carry a variety of merchandise from wholesale to second hand to arts/crafts/handmade items. I'm looking for a system that for me can let me inventory my second hand merchandise with a barcode and that is easy to input 100s of individual, unique items. Then I also would like a vendor portal where my vendors could create an inventory of their own products, that would integrate into my Shopify pos and create barcoded labels that they could use on their merchandise and that I could scan through my Shopify pos. That way they could see in real time their sales for the day. I can easily track sales for each vendor and payouts at the end of the month. Is there anything like this? I can't seem to find it if there is. I know Square had a resale product like this called rose connect or something. Help!

Hey Misrox,

Heddy from Gameball here.

While Shopify has a lot of flexibility, it doesn't offer an out-of-the-box solution for everything you're looking for, especially when it comes to managing vendor-specific inventory and sales in a shared POS system. However, here are a few ideas that might help:

  1. Shopify POS with Custom Solutions: You can use Shopify POS for your own inventory, including second-hand items, and manage barcodes through apps like Stocky or Quick Scan. For vendor management, though, you might need something more tailored. You could potentially set up separate Shopify stores or accounts for each vendor, but that could get complex quickly.

  2. Multi-Vendor Marketplace Apps: While these apps are usually more for online marketplaces, some have features that might work for your setup. Apps like Multi Vendor Marketplace by Web kul allow vendors to manage their own products and orders, but you'd need to check if they can integrate seamlessly with Shopify POS.

  3. Consignment/Resale Apps: For managing second-hand and consignment inventory, apps like SimpleConsign or ConsignCloud might be worth exploring. These aren’t Shopify apps but could work in conjunction with Shopify POS. You’d have to see if they can handle your unique needs, like generating barcodes and managing payouts.

  4. Custom Development: If your needs are very specific, you might consider hiring a developer to create a custom solution that integrates with Shopify POS. This could include a vendor portal for managing inventory, real-time sales tracking, and barcode generation.

  5. Look into Square Again: Since you mentioned Square had a solution like this, it might be worth revisiting them, especially if they have a product that fits your exact needs, even if it means managing two systems.

Unfortunately, there isn't a perfect one-size-fits-all solution readily available on Shopify, but combining some of the options above or going the custom route might get you close to what you need. It could be helpful to speak directly with some app developers or consultants who specialize in Shopify to explore how they can help you build exactly what you're looking for.
