I need help getting past this step in setting up my Australian based shopify store to sell in the U.S. using my existing USD World First Australian bank account details. It won't accept my bsb and account numbers. Getting a warning box. Thank you for your assistance.

**The routing number you are attempting to add is currently not supported. Please try again with a different bank account.

Hi @Virginia1

You're running into a common issue when trying to use non-U.S. bank details (like your AUD-based World First account) for receiving payouts in USD from your U.S. Shopify market.

Shopify requires a U.S.-based bank account with a valid U.S. routing number (not a BSB) to receive USD payouts from U.S. sales. Unfortunately, even though World First provides USD accounts, they often don't have the kind of ACH routing numbers Shopify's payout system accepts—they usually use SWIFT or international wire formats, which aren't compatible.

Options to move forward:
Use a U.S. virtual bank account
Services like Wise (formerly TransferWise) or Payoneer offer USD receiving accounts with valid U.S. routing and account numbers that Shopify accepts for payouts. Many Australian merchants use them successfully.

Switch your payout currency
If you want to continue using your Australian account, you can change your Shopify payout settings to receive funds in AUD. Shopify will convert the USD sales and deposit AUD into your local account (though conversion fees apply).

Reach out to World First
You might want to double-check with World First support to see if they can provide an ACH-compatible routing number—some banks offer this for special cases.

Thank you for your time and the options you've provided. I’ve been searching for a solution for weeks. Unfortunately, World First has never indicated that they can provide an ACH-compatible routing number. After extensive back-and-forth communication, they ultimately told me it was a Shopify issue and advised me to resolve it directly with them.

Now, I’m faced with the inconvenience of signing up with a new virtual bank—even though I already receive payments from Etsy and Amazon into my World First account.
