Bulk add customers that have the same email and address

I have about 1,300 customers I'm looking to add via a bulk import. However, many of these customers have different names, but the same address and email address. Long story short, this can't change because of how we interact with customers. 

When I go to initiate a bulk import of customers using the CSV template, Shopify skips over adding many of the customers because multiple fields in the CSV are identical (except for the first and last name). 

Any tips for avoiding this issue so I can add all customers via CSV?

Hope you're doing well. I have 2 answers for you, the way that will take more work with a better long term outcomes and the "get it done" way.

The best thing to do is go through and put all the customers under a single email address. Shopify email or phone number as the primary identifier for a customer. There's cool ways you can work in sheets/excel to massage the data quickly to get it in the right format. This will make customer service easier, analytics more accurate and more.

Now you did say you have a unique way of communicating with your customers so here's how to get it done. Most email providers accept "sub addressing" which means you can add a "+" followed by anything and it will still go to the email on the left of the plus. As an example sales@symmetrycommerce.com will receive the same emails as sales+1@symmetrycommerce.com and sales+litterallyanything@symmetrycommerce.com. All you need to do is go into your sheet and search for duplicates and add a "+" and a number or identifier by your duplicates. I'd suggest making a new column and doing an =CONCATENATE(column with email, column with first name, "-", column with last name) to do this super fast.

Keep in mind some emails will not support sub addresses, but the major ones should. Hope this helps!
