This is an accepted solution.

This csv import is forcing me to select the title while I don't want the title to be selected. I just want the prices to be updated on the basis of SKU. Is there any solution? I receive different price lists and the name could be changed. I want my names to be intact.

Hello,

You can update the prices by uploading a CSV to the Shopify admin with the following columns:

  • Handle
  • Title
  • Variant Price

If you have multiple variants for a product you'll also need to include the 'Option1 Value', 'Option2 Value' and 'Option3 Value' so that the admin can identify which variant you're updating.

For example, this spreadsheet would update the prices for two products, one of which five variants:

To update the products, click on Import from the products page of the admin and upload your file. After the file has been uploaded, make sure to select the 'Overwrite products with matching handles.' option before proceeding.

When using spreadsheets to update data in the Shopify admin I would:

  • First export all your product data so you have a backup
  • Do a test on 1-2 products before updating all your products

It's easy to accidentally create duplicates or overwrite product data if you don't follow their format exactly (we've written some more here about some of the limitations of Shopify spreadsheets)

Best,

Daniel

If you just have a spreadsheet of SKUs + price the only way I know to do it in the Shopify Admin would be to:

  1. Export the existing product handles, option values and SKUs from Shopify into an Excel spreadsheet
  2. Copy your SKU + prices into another tab of the Excel spreadsheet and join the two datasets to a 'Variant price' column
  3. Upload the new spreadsheet to the Shopify admin

I'm not as familiar with Google Sheets but I think it's possible to do the same merge process in there.

I realize that process isn't simple though and it's actually  of the reasons we actually built our Ablestar Bulk Product Editor app. Among other things it lets you upload a spreadsheet with just SKU + price to edit your products:

It also has the advantage that you can see the status of your update and you can undo it with a click if something goes wrong.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with, happy to help get the formulas to join the two spreadsheet tables working if you want to try that.

Best,

Daniel

I did this and tested it and it looked okay. Then I did all 300 products and I lost all 2.-8. images from all products. How do I avoid that happening?
