Can I create an exclusive checkout for select email addresses?

Hi! Is it possible to create a checkout that’s accessible only to a select list of email addresses?

Basically, I’m organising an art market, so am selling spaces/stalls. So far 188 people have applied but I only have 40 spaces/stalls, so I need to select who I’d like to participate and then send them payment details. So: because I’m personally selecting the artists based on the quality of their artwork, I want only the people I select to be able to buy a space/stall (and absolutely no one else).

For example, say I select Person A to participate and send them a payment link, and they forward the payment details to their friend, Person B (who I didn’t select) – Person B shouldn’t be able to buy a stall/space via the payment link. Only Person A should be able to buy a space/stall.

Hi @n4makersmarket

I think the best way to do this is to create draft orders in the backend, input the user's information, address, etc...then send them the invoice requesting the payment. That way the order will be prefilled, and the only thing they can do is pay. What do you think?

Hello!

Thanks for this solution – it could work, however it'll slow things down by
adding an extra step in the process, as I'd have to ask each person for
their address and then wait for them to respond with it. Adding time isn't
ideal as I have so much to do to organise the event.

Are there any other options, do you think?

Cheers,

You can then use the Locksmith app: Locksmith | Shopify App Store , configuration is swift and you block or allow whomever you want in that selection. Cheers!

+1 for Locksmith.

Word of advice @harrys17451: there's nothing wrong with promoting your apps in this Community to those who need it, but pretending you're not affiliated is misleading, at best. Manipulative and harmful at worst.

@n4makersmarket One other potential solution via the Helium Customer Fields app. You can use the app to create a custom registration form and enable account approval which means you can manually approve certain customers.

I would also recommend the apps's customer auto tagging feature to add a tag to approved customers. This would work nicely in conjunction with Locksmith, allowing you to restrict access to certain products, collections, or pages based on customer tags. You could prevent unapproved customers from even seeing the product in question.

Our Customer Success team is happy to help if you have any questions about the Customer Fields app. I've also heard good things about Locksmith's customer service.

Well, you can make your checkout payment options only accessible to the selected customers with PayRules: Hide Payment Methods app by utilizing customer tags. For instance, you can give your selected 40 customers a specific tag and then only the customers with that tag can see and use your payment method at the checkout page. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Choose your checkout method (Invoice for example) from the Select payment methods or Additional payment methods field.
  2. Choose Hide if not found under the Customer tags field.
  3. Now enter the customer tag (Selected for example) under the Customer tags field.

Hope it serves. Thank you.
