Hi,
My mega menu is looking a little busy. Is it possible to create drop down menus within the mega menu?
Thanks,
Jeanne Melanson

This is an accepted solution.
Hi @JeanneM13 -
Zach from TaskHusky here.
A drop down menu in your mega menu isn't likely a good solution.
The busyness of your mega menu is being caused by the overall structure of your main menu to begin with.
Your main menu should serve as away to get your shoppers to go deeper in your store from a sales standpoint. I recommend to merchants all the time to eliminate (home, blog, contact us, etc) from the main menu. This is all great content; however, the footer is a better place for it.
Instead place your top collections as your main menu links.
Take a look at Cabelas.com. They have TONS of product collections. Their menu as a single main menu would be overwhelming. They've cleanly subdivided all the collections into individual mega menus.
This would be my suggest for your store.

Hi Zack,
Ooh, I love Cabela's menu. How do I do that? The same way I created the Menu as it exists now (with the Contact, Blog, etc.)?

Hi Jeanne -
They are one of my favorite mega menu setups on the Internet.
How to do it depends on your theme and if it allows you to do multiple mega menus. If you can, you would do it the exact same way you did the first one. If the theme only allows 1, you would need to have custom code implemented to make the change. I do believe in your case, it would be worth it.
Zach,
I'm using the Refresh theme Can you give me a clue as to what to look for to see if it's capable of creating multiple mega menus?
Jeanne
Hey Jeanne -
I looked into it and the Refresh theme does support multiple mega menus. You can create the additional ones just like you did the first.
That's good news! Thank you so much! Yay 😃
Hey Zach,
I've done some fiddling with the mega menu issue and tried as you suggested by going Cabela-style, but it still looks too busy. I might have to re-think combining some categories together somehow. Can I get your opinion and advice so far?
Also, do you know if there's a way to cut my hero image in half or something? I appreciate your help.
Jeanne Melanson
I do agree it looks too busy still. I believe there is away to make it work my thinking bigger categories and sub category structures.
Yes. With some coding you can cut it in half.
I offer strategy session to work through issues like this one-on-one if you are interested.
Yes, please.
