Can I create reports based off payment method used at checkout?

We do a lot of B2B business with our in-store POS system. We have the subscription where we can create custom reports, however I was wanting to add payment method as a column or filter in these reports. Is there any way to do this other than using the payment by type report? I also cannot add any filters or extra columns in the payment by type report.

When you refer to payment method so you mean cash, card, PayPal or do you mean Visa, AMEX, MC, etc?

I mean cash, card, and our custom payment method we named "allowance".

Shopify doesn't have any built-in reports that allow this. You would need to try a reporting app like Better Reports or Report Toaster.
