All things Shopify and commerce
I currently have a website set up on GoDaddy, however I find their systems aren’t very e commerce friendly, I have friends who have businesses set up on your platform and to me it looks much better. I wonder if you could assist with the following questions.
Will I still be paying an annual fee to go daddy after I migrate to Shopify, or will I need to cancel my payments to go daddy and pay Shopify going forward?
Will the website look the same or will I have to change its appearance?
I have a business email tied to my go daddy account, will this migrate too?
Any info would be appreciated, thank you
Hey, @Doylemufc!
It's great to hear you're looking about migrating to Shopify. We'd be happy to have you!
@Cart_Whisper-AB provided a lot of great information, and I wanted to share a few other details.
Whether you will still be charged by GoDaddy depends on if you will continue using their services. You may be interested in transferring your domain to Shopify, to simplify your billing and have all your charges come from the place.
The appearance will change since Shopify has our own themes. You can definitely choose to use similar colors and styles if you want to maintain your brand's image! Feel free to check out our themes here.
Shopify doesn't offer email hosting, so if that is an important feature for you, that is something to consider. We do, however, offer email forwarding, which is a service that allows you to direct an email sent to one email address to a different email address. If you transfer your domain to Shopify, then you can set up an unlimited number of forwarding email addresses for free. You can read more about email hosting and forwarding in this help document!
I also wanted to share our help document about migrating to Shopify! It has a lot of helpful information and considerations to keep in mind.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

I also created a website on Godaddy before and admitted that using it was quite bad.
Switching to WordPress was time-consuming, particularly the storage and data migration which had to be done manually.
I realized that it required a significant amount of time and effort. So I decided that if I can't do something myself, I should hire someone else.
I utilized LitExtension’s GoDaddy to Shopify migration service
I contacted LitExtension staff and luckily they supported me quite enthusiastically. In just a few hours, almost my Godaddy store was completely migrated to Shopify.
You can learn more about the service I used from LitExtension here
When migrating from GoDaddy to Shopify using Cart2Cart, you will need to cancel your GoDaddy payments if you no longer want to maintain that hosting. Your Shopify store will have a different appearance, as you'll be using a Shopify theme, but you can customize it to match your brand. As for your business email, you'll need to check with GoDaddy regarding migration; typically, email services are separate from web hosting, so you may need to manage that independently. If you have more specific questions about the process, feel free to ask!
