Can partners earn commission from redesigning existing stores?

Hi, I am confused. I have had multiple clients come to me wanting me to redesign their existing shopify store. But as a partner, can we do this while earning commission? Or can we only earn commission if the person has no shopify account previously? I have yet to find anyone interested in having a shopify store designed that hasn’t already started a trial.

You only earn a commission if it's a new store.

I'd like to expand on what @fadi_yousif said. In order to transfer a store over to a client to earn a commission, the store must have been created as a development store within your partner profile from the start.

There is no way to transfer stores into development store status once it has already been created.

What if your client has an Advanced plan, you create a new development store with your partner profile, and then your client switches their store to your new development store and they upgraded their plan to Plus? Would you get commission because they upgraded their plan after using your dev store?
