Can Shopify's privacy app manage cookie settings in the EU?

Could someone confirm if the shopify privacy app allows for management of when cookies are set? The fundamental issue seems to be that even if you have the "restrict data collection" settings AND have the privacy banner app enabled, marketing cookies are still set in the browser. 

The settings downgrade the marketing/tracking cookies to session cookies, however this is still not compliant.

If it's not possible within shopify, then can someone recommend an app that will achieve this?

These settings have been designed to comply with the recent Court of Justice of the European Union decision on cookies, which prohibits cookies from storing information on a user’s device.

As session cookies are removed after a visit, and cannot be used to track the user over time, this solution abides by the requirements of the decision.

The visitor tracking functionality allows you to require that visitors from the EU actively opt-in before the merchant’s store uses persistent non-essential cookies.

Our solution was built to the CJEU’s specifications, as this is currently the most stringent cookie requirement, but we are monitoring new laws and requirements as they arise.

If you'd like to be certain about your compliance in a given jurisdiction, our best advice would still be to consult a qualified legal expert where you are.
