All things Shopify and commerce
Hi Shopify Community,
I urgently need help accessing my Shopify account that I originally created using Google login only (no password was ever set).
Whenever I try to:
Log in using email
Click "Forgot password"
Use any login method tied to this email
I am immediately redirected to the Google login page. After logging into Google, it just loops back or fails to log me into Shopify. I’ve tried:
Multiple devices and browsers
Clearing cache and cookies
Incognito/private mode
Changing IP and network
Shopify mobile app
Nothing has worked.
I contacted Shopify Support
They confirmed it’s a known issue with accounts created via Google login
They asked me to complete Stripe Identity Verification, i dont know why because im not using stripe
I’m now waiting for them to manually remove the OAuth link so I can use regular email + password login
Has anyone faced this same issue and successfully resolved it?
How long did Shopify take to remove the Google login after verification?
Is there any way to speed up the process or escalate this internally?
This is a critical issue for me, as I cannot access my store or dashboard, and it’s affecting my business. Any help from community members or moderators would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you,
this is a known issue for accounts created using only Google login (OAuth). When OAuth fails or breaks, Shopify keeps redirecting you back to Google with no way to use email + password instead.
Support typically resolves this by manually unlinking Google after Stripe Identity Verification. It sounds like you're already on the right track—hang in there.
From what I’ve seen, once ID is approved, it can take 1–3 business days to regain access. I recommend replying to your original ticket every 1–2 days and asking for escalation to the Account Access team.
It's annoying, but you're almost through it. You're not being singled out it’s a flaw in OAuth-only account creation.
Hello @mouadtr
Once they confirm removal, you’ll be able to do the “Forgot password” flow and set a new password.
Hello @mouadtr You're not alone—this Google login loop with Shopify is a frustrating and increasingly reported issue, especially for accounts created only via Google OAuth without a password set.
Why This Happens
Shopify ties your account directly to Google via OAuth. So:
. If OAuth breaks or your Google token/session becomes invalid or mismatches,
. Shopify can’t authenticate you, and you can’t bypass the Google loop without Shopify’s manual intervention.
What You've Done Right:
. Reached out to Shopify Support ✔
. Tried multiple devices/browsers/incognito ✔
. Waiting for OAuth removal ✔
Even if you're not using Stripe, the Stripe Identity Verification is Shopify's way to ensure the real owner is requesting access—not specific to Stripe use.
Answers to Your Questions:
1. Has anyone faced this same issue and successfully resolved it?
Yes—others have reported this. Success always came after Shopify manually removed the Google OAuth link from the account. Then, the user was able to set a password and log in using their email normally.
2. How long did Shopify take to remove the Google login after verification?
From shared experiences:
. It typically takes 24 to 72 hours after identity verification.
. In urgent cases, it was resolved within a day, especially when users emphasized business disruption.
3. Is there any way to speed up the process or escalate this internally?
. Reply to your support ticket and stress the business-critical impact—mention inability to access orders, revenue loss, etc.
. Ask for Tier 2 or escalated support.
. Use Shopify’s support chat, not just email—it often reaches resolution faster.
. Tag Shopify on Twitter/X (@ShopifySupport) with your ticket ID if you’re stuck longer than 48 hours.
What You Can Do Now:
. Continue pressing support with your ticket number.
. Once OAuth is removed, immediately set a strong password and enable 2FA to avoid similar lockouts.
. Consider adding a recovery email or backup login method if possible.

Thank you 😊
