We have a series of physical retail stores that use the Shopify POS to process sales. Recently we have had issues with adding new customers where we can only find existing ones, and the button to 'add new customer' is gone. We have 5 stores, not all of them have the issue and it seems to be not all the time - sometimes it's like this for a few days, and then it's back for a few days before going again. We are also having issues with searching for products where it says the product is not available.
This is likely due to syncing issues, app bugs, or staff permission limits
Update the Shopify POS app to the latest version.
Restart the POS device (iPad/tablet).
Check staff permissions in Shopify Admin – staff must have customer access.
Force sync: In POS, go to Menu > Settings > Diagnostics > Sync data.
Make sure the device is online with a strong internet connection
The product may not be assigned to the store location, out of stock, or not enabled for POS
In Shopify Admin, open the product and ensure it is:
Available at that store’s location.
Enabled for the Point of Sale channel.
In stock (check inventory levels).
Sync the POS again via Menu > Settings > Diagnostics.
Ensure the product is active, not archived or draft. Let me know if you need further assistance
