Hi @raasowner,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some assistance with your shop URL, to ensure this gets resolved.

To share some insight, your online shop was given a default myshopify.com URL when you first signed up for Shopify. This URL has the ability to be changed once, if it's decided that you'd like a different .myshopify.com domain name to be displayed to customers.

To make this adjustment, you can:

  • Head to Settings > Domains, from the Shopify admin.
  • On the Domains page, click Change to a new myshopify.com domain next to your default domain name.

  • Enter a new name, and then click Add domain.

To learn more, you can check out our Adding Business Settings For Your Store document for additional information.

Alternatively, you can look into purchasing a custom domain for the shop. This option will require you to purchase a new domain from Shopify and/or a third-party domain provider. To learn more, you can refer to our Domains document as it share more information.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi Blair!
Thank you for your answer!
But the issue is not in domain name
I have more than 20 shops and working with it in parallel
It is really difficult to identify it if I have something like

https://3a4b78-2.myshopify.com/admin/settings

in address bar
My shops created before your update has it's own uniq names which are used for work with /admin part, now I don't have ability to have readable name for it
Could you please fix it?

It's an annoying problem and not well documented (or rather not at all).

When you create a store through the main shopify site, Shopify randomly creates a Store URL {randomid}.myshopify.com

You can create new stores and specify Store URLs either through the Partner Admin or Org Admin.

If you have the same billing info and all your shopify stores are within the same Org, do the following:

  • Login to one of your stores {YOURSTOREID} as the Organization Admin. Replace {YOURSTOREID} with 3a4b78-2
  • On the top left under your Organization, click Storeshttps://admin.shopify.com/store/{YOURSTOREID}/settings/stores )
  • On the top right click Add store ( https://admin.shopify.com/store/{YOURSTOREID}/settings/stores/new )
  • Select Production or Development
  • Enter your new store name
  • Enter your new Store URL {newstoreid}.myshopify.com
  • You can also import data from any other store within your Org or not
  • Click Create Store on the bottom right

@Blair, the problem with this solution is that it adds an additional aliased domain, but does not replace the randomly generated string. So when I login to Shopify, I do have a store name, but it goes to admin.shopify.com/store/random_string/, even after adding the redirect. All stores created before the most recent update have "my_chosen_name.myshopify.com". It's not the end of the world, but an annoying new quirk.

Did you find a solution? My problem is that all the shops I have are called "My Store", so when selecting a store I have to check the store's profile image. This is so irritating, I have some that was before the update that are called what I named them, but since, the update, all of them are called "My Store"
