All things Shopify and commerce
I have a friend that might want to join Shopify. a few weeks ago, I saw a button under my admin>profile that said 'Refer and entrepreneur'. Now I can't find this link - I have asked for chat help but didn't get anywhere. Has anyone else had this issue?
Hello @LisaLewison
You can refer friends, family, and other entrepreneurs to sign up for Shopify through a referral link that's unique to your store. If anyone that you refer signs up for Shopify and all the eligibility requirements are met, then both you and your referral can earn a subscription credit on your store.
You can read more about how to refer an entrepreneur to Shopify here.
Hope this helps 🙂
Hi there, @LisaLewison. Thanks @vian_FoxEcom for jumping in here and lending a hand! It's conversations like this that really stress the value the Shopify Community brings to all!
I wanted to jump in because I noticed in your message that this link that you had seen in your profile is now missing, and you're hoping to use it again. I believe that this issue could potentially be a local issue with your browser, so I have two things I'd like you to test:
Lastly (and I know this may be redundant) but I wanted to make sure that you followed the steps outlined from our Help Docs that @vian_FoxEcom posted to see if you can retrieve the link:
Give those steps a try, along with the cache/cookies clear and different browser a test, and follow up with us here to let us know how things go! I'll keep my eyes peeled for your reply!

Thanks both for your support. I cleared the cookies/cache and it didn't help. I recently renewed my shop, but didn't change anything so it should still be eligible. PS. I wish I could attach JPEG, it's an easier file type to show my screen. (see below)
Thanks for following up, @LisaLewison. Appreciate you trying the steps I outlined to see if that would do the trick!
When you renewed your shop, do you know what plan you renewed the store under? There are some eligibility requirements to be able to provide that referral link. If your store is on the Starter Plan, for example, you're unable to send out referrals, but you can access it on the Basic, Shopify, or Advanced plan, for example.
If you're unsure of what plan you're using, you can login to your admin and go to 'Settings > Plan' to see! Double check that for me, and then get back to me here!

Hi, still no luck on finding the button. I renew recently for another 2 years on the basic plan.
Hi Imogen - Are you able to help me? I now have 2 more friends I would like to send an invite to and the button to 'Refer an entrepreneur' is not there even though I am eligible.
Hi- I am having the same issue. I have the basic plan and am trying to refer a fellow entrepreneur and am unable to locate the button anywhere in admin.
Thanks
Good luck! I tried all the advice above and the button never came back for me. 😞
We are also not able to refer anyone. Their helpdesk team said to post here, which doesn't seem like an acceptable solution.
Hi there, @Erin_Houston , @LisaLewison, and everyone else! My apologies for the delayed reply. I've been out of office for a little bit, but I'm back today and follow up with folks who haven't had replies to their questions.
Just to update you folks on some recent information, the merchant referral program has been sunset as of October 1st. This would explain why you wouldn't be able to see any links related to referrals if you've looked for them recently.
To set some further expectations, we're unable to authenticate users here in the Shopify Community, so I'm unable to access any specific accounts or information related to specific accounts. If our Support Team redirected you to reach out here in the Forums, then I recommend following up with them by replying to any emails you received as a result of your previous conversations with them. They're able to get you authenticated, and can dive into your account more so than we can here.
In regards to instances where there appeared to be no button or option to refer someone before the Oct 1st sunset, it's likely due to an issue with your eligibility to do so. As I can't authenticate folks here in the Community, it's best to reach out to our Team via our Help Center so they can look into specific things were preventing the link from appearing.
