All things Shopify and commerce
We bought Dymo printers so we can print labels/barcodes. They works great in Shopify. When we try to print from POs in Stocky it can't find the Dymo printer -- it's definitely installed. Using the new 550 turbo Dymo. Anyone else having this issue?
Having the same problem. It seems the software that comes with the Dymo printer is not the same software as in the instructions on Help. It is very frustrating.
Hello @
I would like to give you the recommendation to support you
Some stores were experiencing with printing shipping labels, and Shopify's developers have resolved the issue.
If you're still unable to print shipping labels after refreshing your browser, please get in touch with Shopify's team via live chat, email, or callback in the Shopify Help Center and Technical Support team will be able to investigate.
I hope the above is useful to you.
Best regards,
GemPages Support Team
Here is the response I received from Shopify. Basically they have mislead us to believe that this is a functionality that they have, which they actually don't.
Antoinette again from Retail Support. Thank you for the update.
We appreciate that you reached out to Dymo to further check as to why you are unable to apply the steps shared in order to print labels directly from the Stocky app. Upon thorough evaluation, it was shared that currently, only Mac users can successfully print labels directly from the Stocky app when using a 450 or 4XL Dymo label printer. Please note that Window users cannot make use of the Stocky feature to print labels directly from the Stocky app using either the 450 or 4XL Dymo label printers.
The newer models of DYMO Label Writer printers such as the 550 and 5XL do not work with the older DYMO Label Software that is used for the processes detailed below. They only work with DYMO Connect for Mac, which is not compatible with Stocky as the web service was removed from the software. Note that this is a limitation from DYMO and not a decision Shopify has made.
As a workaround, we can use the Retail Barcode Labels app for a seamless experience OR the DYMO Connect app and a CSV file to print labels.
You may purchase the compatible label printer directly from Dymo or from other retail stores. Should you have further questions, feel free to contact us back anytime or you can visit Shopify Help Center. Once again, thank you for reaching Shopify and cheers to further success!
Might be a good idea for shopify to fix this problem in stocky.
They seem to have no idea how much problem these simple thing case in day-to-day operations
it's not a new problem.
So frustrated this is not possible as Shopify is presenting itself as a full-featured POS system.
I'm moving from QB POS to Shopify POS, and I was told to use Stocky for purchase orders and receiving. Just finding out there is not a built-in way to print price labels. This is pretty unacceptable for a POS system.
Agree. We also moved from Intuit POS to Shopify POS in early July. A large miss with Shopify POS is the ability to receive 100's of items and then be able print the barcode labels for only the products you received. I used sheets of Avery labels with Intuit POS. I have set these sheets up with Stocky but have to go back and do a search for every item, edit the qty of labels for each item and the print. This takes hours, opposed to minutes. Even if I could open the PO and then click Generate Labels, I could set them aside to apply later. Or, if I were able to click Print Barcodes and then search for the PO Number and then select print. There are many ways this could be done but I haven't seen it addressed yet and see a lot of people frustrated, especially those of us who just moved over from Intuit POS. This missing feature has created many hours of extra time to receive each PO.
Had a meeting with a Shopify "sales engineer" and supposedly you can print just the items you received in Stocky. Haven't tried it yet but fingers crossed it works. I was having trouble getting the Dymo printer to connect previously.
Were you able to figure out the template issue and print the labels from Stocky?
Do you have the Dymo 550 printer? Did it work?
use this app to print labels from a PO. no csv files needed.

I completely agree. We are moving from QB POS to Shopify POS as well and started the integration way before the discontinuation of QB POS. They should have a resolution or should know how to print barcode labels from Stocky as they wrote the software. The Dymo 450 is also discontinued but their representatives are still recommending it.
We just purchased a like new Dymo 450 and we were having issues as well. I discovered that you can download old versions of the Label Software. I downloaded DYMO Label Software 8.7.4 and it allowed me to create the template per the old instructions and will print the labels. I still I can't get a Bin Location on the label, still searching for a solution to that.
The old software can be found at : https://www.dymo.com/compatibility-chart.html
Direct link to the version that worked for us : https://s3.amazonaws.com/download.dymo.com/dymo/Software/Win/DLS8Setup8.7.4.exe
try using this app to print barcode labels from a PO. no .csv files needed.

I have been for about 30 days, along with Full Shelf the Purchase Order piece that works with it. So far so good. The label App is good, Full Shelf works but is fairly bare bones, but the price is right. https://apps.shopify.com/full-shelf
For everyone having issues printing labels/barcodes from a PO, use the Multi-Label Barcodes app!
https://apps.shopify.com/multi-label-barcodes
You can select the PO within the app and print labels. It's super simple!!! No .csv files or formatting needed.
same here - it turns out the 550 will work with Shopify but not Stocky - words can't express my frustration with a company that just can't get all their heads together when writing code for apps to work together. Their answer is always buy this buy that , pretty soon you have every printer and paper size known to mankind.
Shopify makes big steps with AI and other things. However some very simple basics that have been know problems for a long time are simply overlooked. It might not be a big problem for Shopify but I is a BIG problem for there users.
Come on Shopify, Dot the i's and fill in the gaps. DON't leave us hanging !!!!
I'm still very happy with the rest, fix
this.
