Can you sell individual size items made up of one sku?

We sell jewellery on our store - a bracelet is made up of individual single link components which range from size 13 up to size 23? Is there a way I can offer this for sale on my shopify site where the customer only sees the size options (doesn't see the individual link components) but from a stock perspective our system uses the quantity of individual links ?

example:

A customer wants to buy a yellow coloured link bracelet at 18 links

They currently select an 18 link bracelet with sku 030091/008/018 (variant of sku 030091/008) and Select an second bracelet at 15 links with sku 030091/008/018. Both of these show in our inventory currently as different options but we would like to run from a main (root) sku.

Hi @NNSunderland,

The app Material Manager can achieve this. It works by letting you enter a separate inventory for your raw materials and then link the amount of materials used in each of your variants.

For your example it would work as follows:

  • Enter a raw material inventory of bracelet links into the app (lets say with a quantity of 100)
  • Then within the app link your 2 variants to the material. Specifying one uses 18 links and the other uses 15.
  • If an order goes through with one of each variant the link material inventory will be updated to 67 (100 - 18 - 15 = 67).
  • The Shopify variant inventory for the 18 link will now be 3 and the 15 variant will have an inventory of 4. As this is the max that can be created with the remaining raw material inventory.

Hi @NNSunderland

You can try Easify Inventory Sync for this. It helps manage stock based on individual components while keeping the customer experience simple. Shoppers will only see size options (e.g., 15-link, 18-link bracelets), but inventory will be deducted from the main SKU of individual links.

1. In Shopify, you set your bracelet with size variant as usual, and if you want all variants to have the same SKU, you can edit it directly in Shopify by clicking on each variant in the product settings

2. Create a Base Product: Set up a Base product (your individual single link) for inventory tracking, with a quantity representing your total inventory (e.g., 1000). This product will be a Draft and won’t be visible in the storefront.

3. Set Up Bundle Groups: Use the app to create Bundle groups that connect your single link with your bracelet. Here’s how to set up a bundle group for your product:

  • Master Product: your bracelet's size 13 variant
  • Component Product: The Base product of single item you created, with the Quantity per Bundle set to 13

4. Do the same with other size

5. How It Works:

  • The inventory for your bracelet will be automatically calculated based on the single link’s inventory.
  • When 1 bracelet with 13 links is purchased, the single link's inventory will be reduced by 13. The app will then recalculate the available quantities for your bracelet on the updated Base product inventory, ensuring accurate inventory tracking.
