Cant change Primary market to the US.

I am in Ireland so my primary market is set to that. I would like to sell in the US only at the moment. I am capable of making a new market for the US but I don't want to sell in Ireland at all and would like to set the US as my primary market or remove it all together. When I try to change the country on the primary market the US isn't available just a small selection of mostly small European countries. I have searched for a solution and I have changed the store currency to the US $ and that hasn't changed anything. I also have a market for the US with shipping rates.

you must creat one market with one country which you want to be your primary market.
