Change.js is blowing up my cart page because of a 422 error

When a customer has an item in their cart, and they try to change the quantity past what is available in the inventory, change.js responds with a 422 error that refreshes the page and shows an empty cart. But if you refresh the page, then teh cart items are there.

This is the Debut theme.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, I did, it's just stops working altogether.
