Change Name and URL of Contact Page in the Footer Legal Menu (Dawn)

Hey there,

I created my own "Contact"-page. Now, I want to change the legal policy menu in the footer, so that "Contact information" gets changed to "Contact" and "Kontaktinformationen" gets changed to "Kontakt" on the German translation.

I would also like to change the destination of the contact section in the legal policy footer menu to my own "Contact"-page (both on the English and the German version). 

Could someone please tell me how I can do this? Thanks in advance for your help! 🙂

I appreciate that you have let us know which theme you are using on your online store as that is very helpful! Looking into the Dawn theme, you should be able to make changes to the menu links on the footer of the store by navigating to Online store > Navigation. Once there, you can select on the menu that has your Contact page to make the corresponding changes to the title. I took a screenshot from my test store to show you the section I am referring to: 
 

 
In order to make changes to the URL of the Contact Us page, you will need to navigate to the created page by selecting Online store > Pages. After you select on the desired page you would like to make changes to, you can scroll down towards the bottom of the page to see the option to Edit website SEO.

first of all thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it that you took the time to help me! 🙂

I also found the solution that you've provided in another Community post but unfortunately, this solution doesn't work for me. I wonder if that has something to do with the version of Dawn. I am using the current 11.0 version.

1. I already found the footer menu and added all my legal links there. There I could also add my own contact page. The problem though is, that the footer menu is not the policies menu right next to the "©2023 Your Shop Name".  It is a big vertical menu with the name "Quick links" and I don't want to use that one in my footer. Only the small policies menu.

As you can see here, I changed the "contact-us" link in the footer menu to "Contact" but in the policies menu it still shows "Contact information".

2. I also thought I could find the policies pages of Shopify under the "Pages"-section. But unfortunately, I can only find the pages that I've created there. Not the legal pages. The only way how I can edit the policies pages is, if I go to Settings (Store) -> Policies. But there I can only edit the policy texts - not the page titles and not the URLs. So therefore,  I unfortunately can't find a way how to make that change. I hope you can help me with that! 🙂

Edit: I found a way how to change the title in the menu and on the page:
1. Go to Online Shop -> Themes
2. Click on the button with the three dots "..." and choose "Edit standard theme texts"

3. Again click on the button with the three dots "..." and choose "Checkout & system"

4. Scroll down a lot (I mean it, it's quite far in the bottom) until you find "Checkout Shop Policies" with your Cmd+F-Search. There you can change all the titles of your Policy pages.

That only leaves me with the problem: How can I change the URL to my own contact page?

When it comes to making changes to the Contact page URL - this change is not available if you have created the Contact page from Settings > Policies. However, you can change the URL for the Contact page if you created the Contact Us page from the pages section of your dashboard (Online store > Pages). 
 
If you do create the Contact Us page by navigating to Online store > Pages, you can make changes to the URL of the page by editing webpage SEO.

thanks for your response! That's actually exactly what I did. I created my Contact page via Pages and have the URL for this page that I want. 🙂

However, if you currently click on the legal menu's "Contact" you get sent to the original contact page that's been created by Shopify (the page where I can only edit the text in Settings->Policies). I would like to change this and send the visitor to my /pages/contact page instead that I've added manually.

Could you please let me know how I can achieve this? I will probably have to change some code somewhere, but was unable to find it so far.
