All things Shopify and commerce
Hi there. Running a few test orders, with confirmation going to gmail. Tested on three gmail accounts, and all of them land in spam. I did have a look for previous queries on here, but couldn't find a clear answer. Is there any new updates on how to solve this?
I use shopify domain, by the way.
Thanks, Matt
Hi @Batty
There is no solid answer to ensure your emails are not marked as spam by the receiving email host. There are some steps you can take to ensure your emails arrive as intended though.
This website was an awesome resource for me in testing out my email trust level with third party email hosts and it would be worth trying yourself as well: https://www.mail-tester.com/.
You will also want to make sure your sender email is authenticated. You can check the status of that by following this link: https://shopify.com/admin/settings/sender-email or by creating an email campaign and using the edit link next to the sender email.
If you aren't sure of the results from your mail test or if your email is authenticated in your admin, please let us know here and we will do our best to help.

Hi Shay
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Can I just mention - I am using shopify domain/email to reach customers. I would have thought checking the settings etc would be outside of my wheel house?
Hi Shay
Quick follow up - I tested the mail spam test (what a great little link to bookmark by the way, thanks!) and the result is near perfect at 9.5/10. But then I would expect that, given it is a shopify domain/email client.
I wonder why my three tests to three gmail accounts have all landed in spam. Strange,

Why doesn't Shopify put a disclaimer next to forms where an email address is entered. It could state something to the effect: If you don't see your order confirmation, shipping confirmation ect in your in box then please check your spam folder. This might alleviate some frustrated customers.
