Confused about DMARC update for GoDaddy domain managed by Shopify?

Our domain is purchased through GoDaddy but is managed by Shopify. We did not get any emails about the DMARC update but did get a notification in Shopify. There is also this note in settings > notifications.

We did check on https://dmarcian.com/ and it said DMARC wasn't set up. But since I saw a reply from a Shopify rep that said as long as our domain is managed by Shopify, we don't need to take action, I'm a bit confused.

@juenology, can you clarify?

I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Additionally I notice a lot of my sent emails seem to end up in the junk bin of the recipient.

Hi @kara123, it's best to check your GoDaddy account regardless and see if you can edit the following accordingly:

  1. Log in to GoDaddy account
  2. Find the section for managing DNS records
  3. Add a new TXT record with these details:

Name: _dmarc.yourdomain.com (some providers only require _dmarc)

Value: v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:info@yourdomain.com

The above settings will provide you with the most basic DMARC setup. If you want to set up DMARC in more detail, you can use the online tool at https://dmarcian.com/dmarc-record-wizard

If, however, you do have a custom domain hosted by Shopify, you should already have a DMARC added to your DNS settings by default. You can check this by heading to Settings > Domains > Domain Settings > DNS Settings > Then scroll down and you should see the DMARC record. @kara123 @Rick1984
