Connecting google domain to shopify store

Hi. I bought a new domain from google but when I try to connect it to my shopify store a msg shows "cannot connect becasue its already connect to another store" but I just bought it from google domain. Not sure why is htis happening and how can I connect my domain to my store. PLEASE HELP!

When you receive this message it's generally due to someone having tried/ or successfully connected this domain to Shopify. Our support team can help resolve this for you, you'll just want to have documentation showing you're the owner of the domain ready. Once you have that, go ahead and start a live chat with our team at the bottom of the help.shopify.com page, and share that information with our team, they'll be able to resolve this for you to allow you to connect your domain. 

After that, be sure to set up your Shopify Email, to get started with email marketing using your new domain!

You can start the chat, then when you're speaking to them they'll ask for that information, and you can share it with the support advisor in the chat.

It's possible that the domain you purchased was previously connected to another Shopify store or website, which is why you are seeing the error message. To connect your new domain to your Shopify store, you will need to complete a few steps:

1. First, make sure you have the correct domain name and that it is spelled correctly.

2. Log in to your Shopify account and go to Online Store > Domains.

3. Click on "Connect existing domain."

4. Enter your domain name in the "Connect existing domain" field.

5. If you see the message "This domain is already connected to another store," click on "View settings" to access the domain's settings page.

6. Scroll down to the "Authorization" section and click on "Edit."

7. Uncheck the box next to "Use custom Shopify domain."

8. Save your changes.

9. Go back to the "Domains" page and click on "Connect existing domain" again.

10. Enter your domain name and click on "Connect domain."

11. Follow the prompts to complete the connection process.

Hi Gina, thank you for such a detailed email.
I can go upto point 5 but I don't have authorization in my settings menu as
you have instructed in your email.
Is there any other way to get around this. please see my screenshot below.
