Hello,

I wanted to bring to your attention a matter that seems to be impacting the performance of our website, specifically in terms of loading speed, as identified by Google Insights.

The issue revolves around errors being logged to the console on product pages, indicating unresolved problems. These errors appear to stem from network request failures and other concerns related to the browser. As a result, our site's loading speed is being adversely affected.

I kindly request the assistance of Shopify developers to investigate and resolve this issue promptly. Your expertise in addressing and rectifying these errors will greatly contribute to enhancing the overall user experience on our website.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter, and we appreciate your efforts in ensuring the optimal performance of our Shopify store.

Same issue has been going on for quite some time for us too https://theindependenceshop.com.au

https://monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com/v1/produce is the link and the issue remains unresolved, any support would be very welcomed!

I received a generic Shopify support response to the error:

I am following up in regards to our previous conversation concerning the HTTP 400 error you encountered on your website ( https://theindependenceshop.com.au ) , as defined by PageSpeed Insights.

Just as a recap, an HTTP 400 error, otherwise known as a "Bad Request" error, is a status code that a server sends back when unable to process a request due to incorrect syntax or client-side error. The specific error message from your server specified:

Shopify Hosting /v1/produce:1:0(monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com) Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 400 (Bad Request)

The above error suggests that your web browser or application tried to communicate with a server hosted by Shopify and attempted to reach the resource at /v1/produce.

The issue could be one of the following or a combination thereof:

  • The URL is incorrect, maybe containing a typo or a missing part.
  • The resource /v1/produce does not exist or was relocated.

In order to troubleshooting this issue:

  • The simplest fix could be to check the URL for misspellings, formatting issues or improper inclusion of certain characters.
  • You can also take a look at this Google Chrome Developers’ article that provides thorough information about logged browser errors.

However, since URL detection can be technical, it would be beneficial to seek help from a web developer, especially if you're not comfortable working with backend code. You may even consider contacting the Shopify Developers Team, who offer their support free of charge. Feel free to reach out through their public Developer forum or their live Discord channel. They are extremely competent in assisting with custom coding concerns.

Once again thank you so much for taking some time to read my email Rosanne. Should you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reply to this email so we can help you out! Thank you for choosing Shopify.

The console errors are associated with the Shopify Payments Installments code, specifically {{ form | payment_terms}}, responsible for activating the installments banner on product pages. Upon removing this code, the console error disappears. It's worth noting that some other stores don't seem to encounter this particular error.

I have reported this issue, but unfortunately, there has been no response or solution from Shopify developers yet. This error is concerning to me because my theme is generally stable, and the presence of this error undermines the overall stability of my store. I have exhausted my efforts in troubleshooting on my end, and it seems that the resolution lies with @Shopify.

I consider this error akin to a virus, impacting the performance and speed of our websites. It is my sincere hope that someone from Shopify reads this message and takes prompt action to address and rectify this issue. I am eager to have an error-free website for an optimal user experience.

Thank you for the insight AK81. I assume I can't edit this, is that correct? It's not on my theme code that I can find. I'm also in hope of a solution with @Shopify and have added it to several issues that they have yet been able to resolve.

The error should be resolved by removing the "Follow on Shop" button from your theme.

Thank you AK81! Hours wasted chatting back and forth with @Shopify support and still no solution from their end. Removing the "Follow on Shop" option has removed the invalid link and resulting error 400 message picked by PageInsights from my store.. but clearly has also removed the option to "Follow on shop". Awaiting a solution from Shopify developers.

Hi,

I have the same issue in my store (https://plumbing4home.com). I tried your solution of removing "Follow on Shop" button but it didn't help. Have you had any other solution for this?

Thank you
