Hello, I would like to copy the existing content, layout and copy of a website to another domain and am hoping not to have to build from scratch. Is this possible?

Hello @HCHG,

Greetings! I am Gina from the flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.

It is possible to copy the existing content, layout, and copy of a Shopify website to another domain, but it is not recommended to do so without permission from the original website owner or without legal rights to do so.

Assuming you have the necessary rights and permissions, here are the steps you can take.

1. Export the theme
In your Shopify dashboard, go to Online Store > Themes and click on the Actions dropdown for the theme you want to copy. Select "Download theme file" to save the theme to your computer.

2. Create a new Shopify store
Go to the Shopify website and sign up for a new account. Once you have created your new store, select a plan and choose a theme that is similar to the one you want to copy.

3. Import the theme
In your new Shopify store, go to Online Store > Themes and click "Upload theme" in the top right corner. Select the theme file you downloaded in step 1 and click "Upload".

4. Customize the theme
Once the theme is uploaded, you can customize it to match the layout and content of the original website. This may involve adding or deleting sections, adjusting fonts and colors, and adding or removing images and text.

5. Add products and other content
After customizing the theme, you can add your products and other content to the new website.

Please note that copying a website without permission is illegal and can result in legal action. If you are unsure whether you have the right to copy a website, you should consult a legal professional.

Hi Gina! Thanks much, it is my own website actually but it has become necessary to have two related but separate sites to deal with local and international customers due to things like pricing, location specific promotions, stock mgmt etc. So it's the same line but different marketing and was really hoping not to have to copy and paste everything over page by page.

Thank you for these steps, however in my case, I want to export/copy the existing website content, layout, and copy to entirely different platform, not into a new Shopify account. I want to use another platform for my business and I don't want to create a new Shopify site.  How do I do that? Similar to HCHG, I don't want to build from scratch. Step 1. makes sense, however is the theme file that is downloaded, in a format that can be imported into any other platform that I choose? OR do I need to export/download the theme file in a format that is compatible with the platform that I want to import it to?

Hi HCHG,

I'm about to also split a website into two domains for US/International.  Do you have any tips on the best approach from your experience?
