I am manually entering in a replacement order for a customer and the address I am using is correct but I keep getting this error message and can't move on.  I've already shipped once to the customer and the address is the same.

What gives?

Hi there @LeslieB. I'm happy to look into this with you! I just have a few questions to make sure I fully understand what's happening on your end.

  • If you go through your online checkout with the same products and use the same shipping address, will it allow you to proceed? Or is this only happening when you create a draft order?
  • What shipping rates do you currently offer? Do your rates have any conditions
  • Which regions do you currently ship to?

When this error message happens it typically means that the product(s) in your cart are having trouble making a clear path to a shipping rate. There's a few reasons this could be happening. Since you've shipped to this address before, it sounds like it may be an issue your shipping settings or the way products are set up. To start troubleshooting I would recommend the following:

  • Ensure all of your products are in shipping profiles. You can find your shipping profiles by going to Settings > Shipping and delivery. You can also read more about shipping profiles here.
  • Confirm that you've set up shipping zones and shipping rates correctly for the locations where your inventory is hosted. You can find your shipping rates by going to Settings > Shipping and delivery and clicking Manage next to the shipping profile. Once there, make sure you see compatible shipping zones and rates for each location that has inventory you need to ship. You can read more about shipping zones here and you can read more about shipping rates on this page.

  • If you are using price based shipping rates, confirm that your rates cover all order total possibilities. For example, if you only have one rate set up as "free shipping on orders $100 and up", but you are trying to check out with an order less than $100, there would be no rates to show and you would receive that error message.
  • Confirm that the product(s) being purchased are set up properly to inform what shipping rates should apply. For example, on the product detail page double check that the setting This is a physical product is enabled for all products that need to be shipped. If you are using weight-based shipping rates or calculated shipping rates you will also want to double check that the items being purchased have a weight assigned.
  • Make sure that your products and variants have inventory at the locations you are shipping from. You can find this by going to Products and clicking on the product you want to view. Under the Inventory section you will see a list of the locations you have and the amount of inventory you have at each location. You can also read more about assigning inventory to locations on this page.

Try that out and let me know if you are still having trouble. I know there are quite a few steps so please let me know if you have any questions as well.

Hi Erin,

Thanks for your response.  From what I can see our product assignment and rates are set up as they should be as is our inventory.  I needed to get the shipment out so my temporary workaround was to duplicate the previous order.  Ultimately I'd prefer not to do that but it worked in the short term.  We are using Shipstation as a plug in and always have with no problem.

Thanks again

Erin,

Today I had the same problem.  I've gone through all your steps but it didn't work.  We have a code to negate cost for samples to particular people.  Our store settings are free shipping beginning at $0 domestically yet once I put in the code to negate cost, I get shipping errors again.  Any other helpful advice?
