Create segment to exclude customers in a workflow

I'd like to create an email list segment which will exlude anyone that is currently in an automated workflow. Is this possible? I don't want to exclude them permanently, just whilst they are in the flow so they are not getting too many emails. For example their welcome discount code emails. I'm using the Shopify email and flow apps.

Thanks Abel, but I would need the tag to remove itself once they are out of the workflow so that they receive future emails. I don't think that is possible?

Thanks, that might work actually, I've not tried that sort of automation before in Shopify. I'll give it a go! Thanks for your help.
