.csv file upload - Failed to import: • Line 5-7: wrong status line: ?????

Recently I started getting this error when uploading my .csv files to Shopify.

  • Line 5-7: wrong status line: "\x1F\x8B\b\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x03\x03\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00HTTP/1.1 200 OK"

This is happening to nearly all my 3000+ product lines. My business is now dead and we can no longer list anything to sell or amend or stock online.

Nothing has changed and Shopify cannot tell me what the issue is even tho its there own platform!

Does anyone know whats going on? I can see another cast reported on the 02-13-2024 02:57 PM.

Any help would be great!

I'm sorry you're having a problem uploading the CSV. Would be able to share the first 10 or so lines of the CSV so I could take a look?

Best,

Daniel

Hello Daniel thanks for the reply, see attached here.

Note Shopify have replied and said it's seems to be my Dropbox url's that are the issue. But I have been using these flawlessly for over 3 years. And this issue only started last Friday.

Could it be something they have done in the background?

Hi @NBI-AUD thanks for sending over the file. You're right, the issue is with the Dropbox image URLs.

There's been a change in the last week or so and now Dropbox image URLs no longer work when importing products through the Shopify admin. You can also see the error if you use the 'Add from URL' option within the Shopify admin with a Dropbox URL:

I've tried several different variants of the URL but haven't been able to get Shopify to accept it. There's two ways I can think of to solve this:

Store the images in a different location

If the images are available at another URL try using that instead. This seems to be specific to Dropbox and some other URLs that have the query parameters (any URL that has a question mark in it with text afterwards).

Alternatively, you could clear out the image column, upload the products through the Shopify admin and then update the images within the admin (though I realize it would be very painful to do for 3000+ products).

Use a third-party app

We first ran into this issue (but with a different error message) when users were trying to add bulk add Dropbox images to their products using our Ablestar Bulk Product Editor app. The app supports creating and editing Shopify products with a spreadsheet but you don't need to rename the columns, you can see the progress of your jobs and undo them if necessary.

We updated our app on February 16 so that it can continue to support the Dropbox image URLs. Whenever it detects a Dropbox URL, it downloads the image itself and then resends it to the Shopify API). This works for creating and updating Shopify products from a spreadsheet.

I know it might not be ideal to use add another app to the process but I've tested out the CSV you sent and it is showing the images:

We also have a 7-day trial with no limit on the number of products so if this is a one-time thing you should be able to do it within the trial.

I'm sorry I don't have a better solution and happy to answer any questions you might have

Best,

Daniel

Hello Daniel

Did you have time to look at this? It honestly seems like Shopify are forcing us to us there "Content File" system.

Daniel has answered my question read the thread.

Honestly though I can't believe Shopify with stop supporting Dropbox URL's unannounced to there users! This is going to affect so many of there users i'm sure! Forcing users onto yet another paid app!
