Custom checkout field work around

Hello,

I’m a florist and require custom fields in the checkout in order to capture all the information I need to fulfill an order. I’m on a basic plan and would like to remain that way as I can’t justify the steep price increase just for this one function.

Above is a screenshot from another florists product page (who uses shopify) where they are capturing all information (instead of at the checkout).
I’m wondering if I can achieve the same thing on a basic plan?

Hey @Petalhead,

I see that you’re looking to add custom fields to the checkout page, and using Checkout UI extensions would be the way to go. Unfortunately, this feature is only available for merchants on the Shopify Plus plan. Since you’re on the Basic plan and would like to stay on it, adding custom fields to the checkout page won’t be possible.

However, you can still add those additional fields to the cart page. For example, on this store— https://www.gifti.com.au/ - they’ve added fields where customers can select delivery dates and types of delivery based on their pin codes (you can try entering ‘2050' [Camperdown] as a pin code to see it in action). They also offer options for adding extra products to the cart. And they save this information in the order attributes and everything is visible to you on the order page of your admin panel.

To implement this in your store, you’d need to make some changes to the code. And if you’re not comfortable doing it, I’d recommend reaching out to a Shopify developer who can help you implement it.

I hope this helps!

Regards,
Abhishek from Swym

Hi @Petalhead,

Since you’re on the Basic plan, Shopify doesn’t allow customization of the checkout page.

However, a great alternative is to create those custom fields directly on the product page using the Easify Product Options app. Here’s a quick demo to show you how it works 🤗:

If you let me know more about the fields you want to set up, I can guide you on how to do it with the app. You can also reach out to the Easify team for quick assistance.
