Custom Metafield variant data reporting in GA4

We have 3 stores that we want to add custom reporting fields for running analytics in Google Analytics 4. They are for category and sub-category grouping and filtering. How can I pass data from variant metafields to GA4?

You can send variant metafield data to GA4 using the dataLayer retrieve the metafields in your theme and pass them as custom dimensions or event parameters when tracking events
