I have a large group of customers that should have a specific set of metafields populated on their profile. These metafields are used for some customer segmentation.
My question is whether I can update their metafields through a .csv upload without completely overwriting their current profiles, order histories, etc.? Is that possible?
Maybe I posted the question in the wrong place.
Hi Crhage,
Unfortunately, you can't update metafields through a .csv upload without completely overwriting their current profiles, order histories because Shopify doesn't support it.
Hey @Crhage, just to clarify on this, when importing customer data via a CSV file, it does overwrite the customer data, but only for the fields/columns that are actually uploaded. If you don't want to overwrite certain data, just make sure not to include a column for it in your CSV.
For example, if you just want to update/assign a specific metafield value to existing accounts, you can import a CSV file which only contains columns for the email address (to match to the existing customer accounts) and the specific metafield you are updating.
Hi,
New update by Shopify. We can manage metafields with Shopify native import and export.
