All things Shopify and commerce
Hi, I need help! Just a few months ago, Shopify started changing customer names to the "ship to" name - if a customer sends a gift to someone, Shopify changes the customer name on their account to whoever they shipped a gift to! It makes us look totally unprofessional at best. At worst- we're unable to look up orders by the name of the customer who ordered. It's really upsetting our customers too.
Shopify- in other discussion threads I read, a Shopify staff member stated that this is "expected behavior" by the program. I heartily disagree. We've been using Shopify for several years and this is a new problem. And it occurs randomly- not all customer names are changed to the name of their last ship to address.
I see that I'm not the only customer with this issue. It needs to be addressed immediately and fixed.
Starting in approximately May 2023 - it's not just the "default address" that is changing (this was a huge problem on its own), but now the entire customer contact name is changing. The name also changes upon fulfillment. We reported to shopify, but of course, they blamed other apps. The only other app that would have any access to both new orders and shipped orders is AfterShip. I have sent them miles of screenshots and spreadsheets and data and they deny it as their problem too. This is a mess and there's no way we can continue this way.

hoping the new activity bumps this stuff.
Sorry I just hopped onto your conversation chain because I am a customer too, but I am not having problems with my name "YET" but I am so seriously frustrated with SHOPIFY ALWAYS reverting back to my old address despite how many times I have changed it on a website I order from. Not only that, but a few times the business in which I made an order was SO FAST that they already had my item on its way out even when I tried to correct the problem as soon as I realized they had the wrong addy AGAIN. So now there's hold up on that! Any suggestions, or are we stuck with this? Thanks
