When I view a customer segment, the default columns are:
Customer name, email subscription, Location, Orders and Amount Spent
I want to see a column that contains the company name. How do I modify this?
Hello @WeepingWillow ,
You are currently unable to directly add a Company Name column to the customer segment view in Shopify. However, here are two simple ways to see it:
1. Export Clients to CSV
Visit the Customers
Select your segment by clicking Export.
There will be a Company column when you open the file in Google Sheets or Excel.
✔ Ideal for sorting company names or doing fast searches.
2. Install ShopifyFD, a free Chrome extension, in your browser.
Access your Customers page.
Click the "FD" icon in the browser's upper right corner.
Additional fields, such as Company, will appear directly on your dashboard!
✔ Works immediately. Don't code. Very useful if you frequently look up company names.
I searched for ShopifyFD but nothing came up by that name in the Chrome web store. I'm not sure this would work though. I want to see the whole list of customer in the segment and select an individual one based on the company name. Pulling up one customer at a time is not going to help. I'm not sure how happy my coworkers would be having to export a csv file each time.
Since Shopify's native UI fails here, these apps solve your exact problem:
Advanced Customer Search – Adds column customization to segments
Customer Segment & Filter– Lets you build segments with company name visibility
Excelify – One-click exports of segment data (faster than CSV)
Sorry, but none of your links work. Perhaps the name of the apps has changed? We really don't want to pay for yet another app though. I'm thinking we'll have to export csv and send feedback to Shopify.
You want to see the company name in your customer segment view. First, make sure that the company name is actually saved in each customer’s profile. If it is, go to your customer segment, click on the "Columns" button at the top of the table, search for "Company", and select it. This will add the company name as a visible column.
If "Company" doesn’t appear in the column options, it might be stored as a custom field or metafield. In that case, you won’t be able to add it directly in the segment view. Instead, you’ll need to either export the customer data to a spreadsheet or use a reporting tool like ShopifyQL Notebooks, Data Export IO, or Better Reports to include custom fields.

There's no columns button when viewing customer segments. There's a query and templates but none allow me to change the columns. Shopify should really include this feature. Their tech support would only tell me I needed to get an expert coder. Not very helpful.
Unfortunately, even though the data (like Company Name) may exist in customer profiles or metafields, Shopify doesn't let you surface that directly in the segment list view. It's a frustrating limitation, and you're not alone in wanting more flexibility.
Use a Reporting App
You can use apps like:
Better Reports
Data Export IO
EZ Exporter
These let you create custom reports with any fields, including Company Name, and can filter using the same logic as customer segments.
Export Customers
Manually export your customer data:
Go to Customers > Export
Choose the segment
Open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets
If "Company" exists in your data, you’ll see it in one of the columns
Custom App / Shopify API
If you're technical or have a developer:
Use the Shopify Admin API to fetch customer data, including company name (stored as part of the default address or metafields)
Build your own internal dashboard with the columns you care about
you are right about shopify.
This is a clear UX gap. The segmenting system is powerful with ShopifyQL, but the fact that you can't customize columns—especially for business-critical info like company names—limits its usefulness for B2B or high-volume stores.
Hi @WeepingWillow ,
At the moment, Shopify's Customer Segments view does not natively support displaying the Company Name field as a column in the default segment list.
However, here's a workaround:
Export Customer Data:
Go to Customers > Export and choose the segment or all customers you want to view. In the exported CSV file, you’ll find a column for Company (if it was filled during customer registration or added manually).
Custom App or CRM Integration:
If viewing the company name directly in the admin panel is important for your workflow, you might consider using a custom app or CRM integration that gives more flexible data views and filtering options.
Feedback to Shopify:
I’d recommend submitting this as feedback via the Shopify Admin (Settings > Feedback) — enhanced segment customization could be valuable for many merchants!
Hope this helps! Let me know if you’d like assistance with a workaround or custom development to display this within the admin UI.
Hi WeepingWillow, If you're open to using a third-party app, DataChamp could be a solution for you. You can customize the export to include the Company Name and other fields you need. If you have any questions or need assistance setting it up, feel free to reach out!
We have DataChamp. The problem is I don't want to have to export it. I just want to view it live in Shopify.
